With only two points separating Ronan and Whitefish entering the fourth quarter, the Chiefs erupted for 30 points to close out the regular season in style.

"It seems like we've lost a lot of close games because we were missing bunnies and layups," said Ronan assistant coach Bob Neiman. "But they made those layups tonight."

Once the final frame was under way, Ronan employed a pressing defense that created enough easy chances to build a sizeable lead.

Lucas Black and J.J. Tanner scored seven points apiece in the final stanza for Ronan, which improved to 1-7 in league and 8-10 overall.
Although Tanner finished with 16 points, it was Kevin Wroblewski's 18 that led the way for the Chiefs.
Guard Travis Knoll was the other Bigfork player to notch double figures with 11 points. The Chiefs were step for step with taller Bigfork through the first quarter, trailing by only a point. But the Viking roster with eight players listed at least 6-3, five of which exceed that measurement, began to assert their advantage the rest of the game. The Chiefs were led by J.J. Tanner with 15 points, followed by Kevin Wroblewski with 11. Two factors hurt the Ronan cause from this viewer's perspective. On the one hand, several close-up high percentage shots were missed, coupled with some mishandled passes underneath their basket which failed to produce points. On the other was below average offensive output by some of their weaponry. The Chiefs' wealth of good shooters have four players in the top ten in scoring who average ten points or better. Two of those players shot well below their average. Contributions from the bench failed to make up the differential needed to offset the big night by Ker. Some of lack of offensive output can be explained by altered trajectories inflicted by the longer reach of their taller opponents. Had the orange and black attack been able to fire on all cylinders by putting up double figures in each of the quarters, the game would likely have hung in the balance toward the final minutes.
